Las Vegas Wedding Photography - Photographer TiffanyG Interesting Facts

Well, it's 2:30 am here in Las Vegas, on an early Tuesday morning, and I'm in the process of moving all of my 12+ month-old images to a new “archive” hard drive, since both of my 1-TERABYTE (that's 1000 gigabytes) external backup hard drives are FULL*. Before I did this move, I compiled some statistics...

Over the last 16 months, I have personally shot 107 Las Vegas Weddings, Engagement Sessions, and Proposals (and 1 in Chicago!). My assistants (and Jeremy) have shot an additional 56 photography events in Las Vegas.

At those weddings in Las Vegas (and the engagement sessions and marriage proposals), we had a total of 76,718 “keeper” photos. Now THAT is a LOT of photos! What boggles my mind is that either Jeremy or I edited and processed every single one of those photos!

I am busy... but I want my clients to know that I do remember each and every one of you! I can look at a few photos from an event and tell at least 3 stories about the happenings of that day - as a matter of fact, if you are a past bride, reply to this post and I'll reply with a good story of my memory of your wedding!

I love wedding photography in Las Vegas. And as my past brides know, I get personally invested in every event. I consider each and every one of you a friend. And I thank you (again) for letting me be involved in your wedding day!

* For you techies, or if you are wondering how safe your images are, here's what I do to keep your images safe:

  • During events, I change memory cards every hour. This limits the (very very slight) risk of a memory card failure. I am proud to say that in the last 16 months I have lost only 40 images (out of 96,718) to memory card problems. I tell you this for a simple reason: most other photographers WILL NOT tell you this. Rest assured, the chances of losing photos is VERY slim - but I am constantly taking every precaution to limit the losses IF it were to happen.
  • I “dump” my memory cards to our photo editing computer IMMEDIATELY after each event (even if it's 2am).
  • One the photos are “dumped”, I create my Lightroom Catalog and then BACK UP the catalog and all the images to TWO SEPARATE HARD DRIVES. At this point, there are THREE copies of your photos.
  • One hard drive is kept at my house, another is kept in a secret location, and the “main” set is on the computer is in my office. So for me to completely lose your treasured photos would require THREE hard drives to fail/get stolen/etc. at the same time.? This is next-to-impossible.
  • Your images are kept for 12 months on the 2 backup drives. Then, once an event is 1 year old, it is “archived” to our new 1.5-Terabyte drive and removed from the 2 backup hard drives. The archive drive is kept in a locked, secure, and fireproof location.

Well, that's what I do to keep your images safe! Hope you enjoyed all the details!
